Husson Calendar of Events

As the winter season draws to a close, Husson University students have a plethora of choices for upcoming games, sports, and activities that will take them into the spring. Before we know it, the snow will be off the ground, and students will be wearing shorts and flip-flops yet again.

Mens Lacrosse

Saturday, March 21st

Husson University Mens Lacrosse will have a home game against Johnson State. This will be their third game of the season. So far, the team has gone 1-2. The game will begin at 3:30 at Husson University’s Boucher Field.

 

Mr. Husson Pageant

Monday, March 23rd

Husson University’s Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority Kappa Lambda Chapter will be hosting Husson’s 3rd annual Mr. Husson talent show. Students from many different disciplines across campus will be displaying their talents, and their comedy in a night that is sure to ensue laughter. There will be four categories which the participants must partake in: Anything But Clothes, Talent, Love a Man in Uniform, and Trivia Crack.

 

Husson University Drag Show

Monday, March 23rd

Q+A will be hosting Husson University’s Annual Drag Show! Students can sign up to perform at the show, or by emailing Jessica Poors with any questions, comments, or concerns at poorsj@husson.edu. Student performance winners will get a gift card!

 

Art Unplugged

Thursday, March 26th

Q+A will be hosting a night of open mic music, a student art gallery, and of course, lots of snacks! Students from all over campus will be displaying and performing their art in a cool, calm, and relaxed atmosphere. The event is from 6PM-8PM in the Furman Center. Free Beer and False Advertising: A Night Of Improv Comedy

Thursday, March 26th

Husson University’s Improv Club will be hosting a night of Improv Comedy in the Furman Center directly following Art Unplugged. Fans of comedy shows such as Whose Line Is It Anyway are sure to enjoy this night of comedy.

 

Class Registration

Class Registration for the semester of Fall 2015 will begin soon. The pre-registration meetings are from March 23rd to March 27th. Registration is online on each student’s Husson Portal account, and will begin on March 30th. Check with your advisor if you have any questions or concerns.

WHSN Multiple Sclerosis Bake Sale

Friday, March 27th

Volunteers from WHSN will be hosting a bake sale to raise money for Walk MS. The event is from 10AM to 2PM in the Campus Center.

 

Amir Vahab and Ensemble

Friday, April 3rd

To celebrate the passing of winter, and the arrival of the new spring season Husson Student Activities will be hosting the Persian New Year. Amir Vahab is an accomplished composer of Persian Sufi and folk music. The musical selections are inspired by the poetry of Rumi, Hafez, and Baba Taher. The show will be held in The Gracie Theatre from 6:30-8:30PM. Call 207-941-7051 for any comments, questions, or concerns.

 

National Women’s History Month Movie Screenings

The Office of the Chaplin and OASIS will be showing three movies addressing women, and the principles of justice, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Did we mention they’re all free? They’ll be shown on 3/23, 3/30, and 4/6.

Iron Ladies of Liberia – On March 23rd at 12:00PM in the Leonard Chapel, Iron Ladies of Liberia will be playing, which documents the journey of Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, the first freely elected female head of state in Africa. 77 Minutes.

Troop 1500: Girl Scouts Beyond Bars – In this acclaimed documentary which follows the Girl Scouts of Troop 1500, they are faced with coming to terms with their mothers who are in prison, and rebuilding broken relationships. 68 Minutes.

Bloodlines – Bettina Goering has tried desperately to try to hide her family history. Artist Ruth Rich tries desperately to overcome the pain and suffering of her parents and her brother during the Holocaust. When Bettina and Ruth meet, they express their feelings of guilt and rage clash. 52 Minutes.
