Alex Nivus, one of the New England School of Communications senior sports broadcasting students, had the opportunity to interview Maine’s own Christopher Cassidy.
Commander Cassidy, who grew up in York, received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1993, along with a Master’s degree in Ocean engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000. Cassidy then spent 10 years in the Navy SEALS.
In May 2004, Cassidy was selected by NASA for the space program. He completed training for the program in 2006 and has since spent 181 days and 23 hours in space.
