It’s been almost twenty years since “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” was released on June 30, 1997.  Since then six more books, eight movies, three theme parks, and an online game have been released.  It’s safe to say that “Harry Potter” has quite the loyal following, and the magic just keeps on coming for fans.

On July 30th of this year, “Harry Potter and The Cursed Child” a play set nineteen years after the end of the last book will open at London’s Palace Theatre.  The play was written by “Harry Potter” author JK Rowling in collaboration with Jack Thorne and John Tiffany.  After much disappointment from fans that it will only be a play in London, news was released that the script of the play will be released as a hardcover and and e-book, available the day after the play is set to open.  The play (and book) will follow Harry’s oldest child, Albus, as he comes of age and deals with being in his father’s shadow.  According to The Wall Street Journal, a press release briefly touches on the nature of the newest release, “As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: Sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.”

If that isn’t enough magic, “Potter” fans can also look forward to a movie trilogy as well!  “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is not only a textbook found in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, but it is also the name of the book published by Rowling, and the first movie set to hit theaters November 18th.  Warner Bros. Pictures Youtube page release the first trailer on December 15th, 2015 and already has over ten million views.  According to the Wall Street Journal, the movie is set decades before Harry Potter was born, and will follow Newt Scamander, author of the “Fantastic Beasts” textbook.

Potterheads rejoice!  More content is coming your way this year, and for many years to come!  If you’re looking for additions to Harry Potter’s story, check out Pottermore, the online site where you can be sorted into a house, find your wand, and gain access to short stories from Rowling herself!
