BANGOR, Maine – Jordan’s Snack Bar is now open for the Spring and Summer season, as of March 22, 2017. This local take out shack has become an attraction for the Downeast region. The highly anticipated opening is something that locals from the Ellsworth area look forward to every year.

In 1981, Jimmy and Carol Jordan bought a take out restaurant with the concept of opening a seasonal take out bar with fresh food, and a family friendly atmosphere. For more than 35 years now Jordan’s Snack Bar has been serving up delicious seafood, burgers, ice cream and more. The business has grown quite a bit since 1981. Since opening they’ve expanded the bar to include a sit down dining area, with air conditioning, 120 seats outside and inside, plus a playground for the kiddos.

With the expansion of the new building, they’ve also added a Game Room alongside the Playground. This addition further enhances the Jordan’s mission to create a family friendly environment, and welcome all locals and travelers. The Game Room features your traditional arcade games; the claw, pinball, race cars, and even an old school jukebox to play your favorite tunes.

Long time local of Southwest Harbor, Arielle Levesque shares her thoughts on Jordan’s Snack Bar, “I have eaten at Jordan’s snack bar since I was a small child. Fried clams, shrimp and fries haddock with onion rings. The onion rings are essential, they are the best on the planet. It’s a family tradition and friend tradition to go to Jordan’s Snack Bar. I have very fond memories of eating there as a child and ones from high school where my best friend Liz and I would get an order of fries to split and get ice cream on our way home from practice”. Levesque left us with one piece of essential advice if you’re ordering from the snack bar, “The onion rings. Trust me”.

Destiny Soper, native to Ellsworth had a different perspective on Jordan’s, “Going to Jordan’s Snack Bar was a family tradition, but since they’ve increased food prices, we don’t visit as often”. Looking at different reviews on Jordan’s Facebook page, this seems to be a theme in the comments. “Even though they do have high prices, my son and I sometimes go to enjoy the yummy chicken burger lunch, and play on the playground”, Soper states.

The founder Jimmy Jordan wanted to make sure that the snack bar was giving back to the community that his family loved so much. With that thought it mind, he created the “Wednesday Night Cruise In” initiated in 1995. This is a night where local bands and artist can come to perform, admission is free for the public. Jordan wanted to create a fun inexpensive way to give back to the community.

For over 35 seasons now Jordan’s Snack Bar has been open to the locals of the Downeast Region, and for tourist just passing by. To find a menu listing, and specials of the day visit Jordan’s Snack Bar online at, http://www.jordanssnackbar.com/.
