Woman Charged for Lack of Insurance in Gouldsboro Crash

Compiled by Adam LaFleur

A Bar Harbor woman who rear-ended a Bangor woman at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 195 in Gouldsboro was unable to prove her vehicle has insurance.

Police say 32-year-old Melissa Hunt of Bar Harbor was driving north on Route 1 in a Mazda sedan when she hit a Jeep operated by 34-year-old Heidi Doanne of Bangor. The crash occurred just after 8:00 Thursday morning.

Doanne was in the process of turning onto Route 195 when she was struck from behind by Hunt. Doanne’s Jeep suffered minor rear-end damage. Hunt’s Mazda incurred severe front-end damage and was towed from the scene. Neither woman was injured in the collision. Both drivers were alone in their vehicles at the time of the crash.

When police responded, Hunt was unable to produce car insurance documentation. She was charged with failure to provide evidence of liability insurance.
