All Husson students, faculty, and staff are invited to a showing of “If They Had Known” on April 11, 2019, at 7 PM in the Gracie Theatre. This documentary explains the risks associated with the use of mixing alcohol with prescription drugs. The 25-minute film shares the story of Clay Soper, a 19-year old who died after mixing Xanax with alcohol at a party. Soper did not realize the risks of mixing the two and suffered as a result. His friends speak out in this film about making better decisions and learning the dangers that come with drinking at parties.

Jacqueline Ireland, Clinical Director of Student Health Services at Husson University, hopes that people will learn something from watching this short film.

“This documentary provides information and knowledge for students, so they could make better and safer decisions around alcohol and not become an addictive statistic,” Ireland said.

After the film ends, a panel of experts will engage with the audience. This panel includes a few doctors, counselors, and nurse. Those in attendance are encouraged to ask questions, so they can learn how to avoid making the same mistake. Husson University wants to get the word out that mixing drugs with alcohol is dangerous. By informing individuals about these risks, they’re more likely to make safer decisions in the future. This event is free to attend and people are encouraged to invite their friends and family.
