PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – An Aroostook County man and his 14-month-old son are dead following a standoff with police at a home on Reach Road. The Bangor Daily News reports that autopsies from the Maine state medical examiner’s office reveal both the father and son died of single gunshot wounds. State police have identified the father as 35-year-old Matthew Leavitt and the young son as Quinten Leavitt. Matthew Leavitt shot his son before turning the gun on himself. Police initially responded to the Leavitt’s home Saturday and a stalemate developed. Investigators from the Maine State Police Tactical Team recovered the bodies of Matthew and Quinten Leavitt inside the home Sunday morning.
