BANGOR, Maine – Kenzie Worcester is finishing her career as a Husson University Eagle.

The 5-4 Senior Captain has made an unforgettable impact on Husson Women’s basketball history.

Worcester is not eligible to play next season. She will still be a student at Husson University for the next two years in the Physical Therapy program.

Worcester has three straight North Atlantic Conference Championship victories, is the Most Valuable Player in each of the three championship tournaments, and has the second most career points in Husson Women’s basketball history.

“I’ve watched her play for two years and I’m still amazed every game,” said Husson Athletics Social Media Coordinator, Tyler Hewey. “Not even just by her scoring, by her rebounding, she’ll get a block, she’ll get a steal. It’s just everything for her.”

Although Worcester has been NAC Player of the Week over 10 times in her career, she is a team player and only wants what is best for her team.

“From what I’ve seen of her, I’m sure she wouldn’t take all the credit,” said Hewey.

Worcester started her career with the Eagles in the 2015-2016 after graduating from Washburn High School with four state championships in basketball, one state championship in soccer, and a state championship in cross country.

The Valedictorian of her senior class, Worcester came to Husson and started in every game her rookie season. Worcester averaged about 14 points a game with nearly 90% accuracy from the free throw line. In her freshman year, she achieved the second-best three-point percentage in school history (.433).

She was named to Maine’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-Rookie Team.

In Worcester’s sophomore year, started every game of the season and began racking up the awards. NAC Player of the Week, two-time Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Associations Player of the Week Honor Roll, New England Women’s Basketball Honor Roll, MWBCA All-State Second Team, among others.

Worcester’s junior year was when she started hitting her stride. She averaged nearly 19 points a game; including 12 games where she scored over 20 points and three games where she scored over 30. It was during her junior year, Worcester reached the 1,000 point-mark and was the fastest to do so in program history. The Washburn native lead the team in every category except rebounds and blocks that year.

Worcester achieved statistics that had not been seen in over two decades by the program. She set a program record for the number of free throws made in a single game. The standout athlete lead the NAC in field goals and free throws made. The then-junior guard became the first woman in program history to be named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week. Worcester capped off her junior year with a third

straight NAC title and a third straight tournament MVP.

Going into her senior year, Worcester was now the veteran of the team. She was the lone senior on the roster. She earned the title of Captain. Within the first hand-full of games, Worcester obtained 1,500 total career points. Soon after, she takes over second in career points on Husson women’s basketball history. The Senior Captain is now less than 120 points away from becoming number one in the program’s women’s basketball record book once again.

“I don’t know what this team is going to do without her,” said Hewey.

Worcester looks to add a fourth NAC Championship ring to her hand. It would mark eight straight state and/or conference titles for the Maine legend. I am sure Worcester just want to be part of the team.
