School Lockdown Update

Compiled by Caitlin Race

After a social media threat caused a lockdown in Orono and Bangor schools, a thirteen year old student faced a felony charge and was arrested.

Chief Josh Ewing from the Orono Police Department said “It was the time of day where students were everywhere. They were heading to classes, so the teachers did a fantastic job and the students reacted well to just getting to a nearby classroom and locking the doors.”

The teenager is facing a possible Class C Felony of Terrorizing, and Bangor school officials have released a letter to parents as a result. There has not yet been a further update in the story.
