BANGOR, Maine – Don’t miss your chance to watch the Husson Eagles baseball and softball teams play this spring! Husson baseball is in the midst of a strong 2019 season, currently tied for the top spot in the North Atlantic Conference standings with a 5-3 conference record. The Eagles are deadlocked with U-Maine Farmington for first place. The Beavers also have a 5-3 record in NAC play. Both clubs have identical win percentages of 0.625, but Husson holds the tiebreaker because the Eagles have scored 51 runs on the season compared to Farmington’s 40. There are still several opportunities to see Husson baseball at the Harold Alfond Diamond at One College Circle. The Eagles host Thomas College for a doubleheader on Thursday April 11th at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and Bowdoin College on Wednesday April 17th at 7 p.m. Senior day for the baseball team will take place the following week, when Husson again hosts Thomas College for a doubleheader on Wednesday April 24th. Game times on senior day are 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Husson softball is also off to a strong start to the 2019 season. The Eagles softball team is 11-5 overall and 2-0 in NAC play. Junior Pitcher Jen Jones of Acton, Maine continues to lead Husson after she was named NAC player and pitcher of the week for the week ending April 7th. Jones batted .417 last week while scoring four runs and driving in one RBI. She also pitched in all four Eagles games last week, striking out 26 batters in 17 innings and posting an impressive 0.41 ERA. Come out to the Winkin Complex and cheer on Jones and the Eagles as they host Thomas College for a doubleheader on Saturday April 13th with game times set for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The Eagles will be raising awareness for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, at Saturday’s softball doubleheader. Husson softball will also be home with Bowdoin College on Sunday April 14th for another doubleheader matchup. Game times on Sunday are set for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
