Jeri Misler, Managing Director of The Gracie Theatre, said that the a cappella group Home Free will take part in one of the two most significant events that the theatre has to offer this spring. “Home Free are very popular and are on a national tour. That show has sold out.” They will perform in the Gracie on February 18th.

The other big event is called Forbidden Hollywood. It is a show that provides skits and songs in relation to famous movie. “This is a touring of a Broadway show. They do musical parodies of popular movies, like Titanic, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the rings. There are four people who do about 96 characters,” Misler said. “It is extremely entertaining and makes you laugh at movies you already know. I hope it will be a big hit.” The Forbidden Hollywood show will take place on March 26th.

There is also a range of smaller events that is happening at the Gracie this semester. In this category, Misler describes the show Ain´t I A Woman as one of the most important. “It is a show for the campus that celebrates Black History Month and Women History Month,” Misler said. In Misler´s opinion, this is the show Husson Students should go to if they had to pick just one show to go to. “Husson is sponsoring this event, and it is inviting or requiring classes to come to it. This is because it has a historical significance.” This event will take place on February 26, and at 2.p.m it is free for Husson students.

Even though the Gracie has a lot of events planned, there are not always Husson students present. According to Misler, this is a bit surprising. “Students at Husson does not attend as many Gracie events as I would have thought,” Misler said. “I am not sure that´s because students do not know about what is happening in the Gracie. Students tickets are usually cheaper and I usually have a section in the balcony that I reserve for them, but it is not used that often.”

The attendance of Husson students is something that the Gracie wants to improve. “Not every show is geared towards students, but I usually try every year to have at least one show that I think students are really going to enjoy,” Misler said.

To reach out to the students and grab their attention, the Gracie uses a number of outlets to present information about their events. “We have a Gracie Facebook page and twitter account. If you follow either of these, there will be information about what is going on,” Misler said. “There are also posters hanging throughout the campus, and we have an electronic sign board as well.”
