Bangor, Maine – A Grammy award winning singer-songwriter will come to Bangor this spring. The Gracie Theatre of Husson University will host Marc Cohn on May 5th.
Jeri Misler, Managing Director of The Gracie Theatre, is looking forward to the show and is excited to host an artist such as Cohn. In her mind, the show should be appealing to a lot of people. “I think that the concert will be a great way to see and hear an artist up close and personal in an intimate setting,” Misler said. “If people want to look him up, he does have a very interesting story biography on his website.”
Cohn won the Grammy Award for best new artist in 1991. He is mostly known for his famous song “Walking in Memphis,” that has been listened to over 25 million times on Spotify. The singer is well known in the music industry and has an average of over 400,000 listeners per month on the previously mentioned music application. Cohn has over 20,000 likes on his official Facebook page and 4,500 followers on Twitter.
To get Cohn to the Gracie, the theatre has been cooperating with Waterfront Concerts, who is sponsoring the event. This is not the first time this kind of cooperation has taken place, Misler explains. “We cooperated with Waterfront Concerts for a concert we had with Wynonna Judd and the Big Noise last month, and last year we had Sully Erna from Godsmack. Also, we have Los Lonely Boys coming in June and that will be a Waterfront concert as well,” Misler said.
To make sure people know that the Marc Cohn concert is going to take place, the Gracie has done a lot of things to advertise it. “We have talked about the concert on social media and the website for the Gracie. We will also be including the information in an email newsletter this month, which goes to over 2,000 people,” Misler said. “Other than that, Waterfront Concerts will be advertising it to their followers, and Ticketmaster will include it in their emails to people.”
As mentioned earlier, the concert with Cohn will take place on May 5th. According to Misler, there is no special reason why the concert is happening on this particular date. “The reason why we chose May 5th was based on a combination of artist availability and theatre space availability,” Misler said.
After the concert in the Gracie, Marc Cohn will be present at a wide variety of other concerts. In June, he will leave the United States and travel around Europe. He will be at concerts in places such as Great Britain, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
