BANGOR, ME– This afternoon, when I finally had a chance to sit down on my couch and take a much needed breather, I decided to watch the new movie that just came out in 2016 called “Pete’s Dragon.” I can honestly say that was one of the best movies I have watched in a long time. It is a great family movie for children of all ages. Parents don’t have to worry about a fire breathing, children eating dragon. Instead they can sit back and enjoy a movie about a giant, green dragon that takes in an orphan 10-year-old boy and raises him for 6 years in the woods. Caring for him like he was his own baby dragon.

On the movie rating site, Rotten Tomatoes, “Pete’s Dragon” was rated 3.5 out of 4 stars. I would give it the same for my own personal review. The dragon looked extremely realistic and the little kid did an amazing job acting. Oakes Fegley played the main character as the 10 year-old boy. His dragon’s name is Elliot. As you watch this movie, it does a great job at capturing all the emotions. It pulls at your heartstrings and makes you laugh immensely. It proves that movies that are made for children, don’t always have to be just for children. I sat here as a 20 year old with another guy in his 20’s and my father who enjoyed it greatly as well.

I hope that they come out with a second movie. If they don’t then they kind of left the viewers with some unanswered questions. Like where did Elliot come from? At the end of the movie there were multiple dragons, where did they come from? Did he make his own family? If so, where did the female dragon come from? All these questions I was left with at the end of the movie. A second movie out be awesome. Especially since it received such a good turn out in theaters and reviews. It was so easy to viewers to fall in-love with the caring, green dragon. He may not have talked but the way he was shown to care for the boy said everything he needed to say.

The story line kept viewers wondering what was going to happen next. There was plenty of good and evil to go around. Good and evil wasn’t always the characters you thought, either. Elliot the dragon was definitely one of the “good guys.” We all know how hard it can be to take care of a young boy! There is of course the evil men that want to hunt down the dragon for their own purposes and want to show it off to the world. Just like any thriller movie with an exotic animal, there are crazy men that want to take it out of the wild.

To conclude, I would recommend this movie to everyone of all ages. This movie can hit anyone right in their soft spot and keep you interested the entire time. The graphics are amazing, everything looks so life-like. Great movie to sit down with your family with a bowl of popcorn and relax any night of the week.
