BANGOR, ME- The Gracie Theatre at Husson University will be hosting a tribute for one of the pioneers of Motown and R&B music legend with What’s Going On: The Marvin Gaye Experience presented by Brian Owens. The event will be taking place this Friday, March 31st at 7:30 p.m.  This event is a musical celebration for Marvin Gaye, and will feature music spanning his entire legendary career, and will feature songs throughout his long career, such as “I Heard it through the Grapevine” and “Let’s Get it On”.

The main attraction for the show is current R&B and soul singer Brian Owens, who has been inspired by Marvin Gaye in his own music. Managing Director of the Gracie Theatre Jeri Misler says that it is no surprise Owens has been billed as the second coming of Marvin Gaye. “Owen’s soulful investment in the man and his music is evident in every note.”

Not only will there be nationally known artists at this concert, but it will also feature some local singers. Maine singer/songwriter Stesha Cano will perform two duets with Owens. They will perform “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “You’re All I Need”. Cano is a regular performer in Bangor restaurants and clubs, and also has several albums of her own.

What’s Going On: The Marvin Gaye Experience is about, according to Brian Owens, preserving and upholding the tradition of true soul music. He will be doing so by paying tribute to one of the all time greats, not just of the R&B and soul business, but music in general. The Marvin Gaye Experience concert will be this Friday, March 31st at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are indeed still available, with the cost of $37.50 for floor seating, and $28.50 for orchestra and balcony. Tickets are available online, or by calling the Gracie Theatre, information is on their website.
